WELCOME TO THE OLD SAWMILL CAFÉ

We’re extremely excited to tell you all that after extensive renovation, The Old Sawmill Cafe, situated at the entrance to Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail, is open as a cafe and ticket office. Our menu can be found below, which gives a flavour for what we offer, but please be aware that our menu is ever changing and will sometimes be slimmed down.

Expect great coffee, delicious tray bakes, and a small breakfast and lunch menu consisting of basic dishes done well. Our picturesque garden provides outdoor seating for those wishing to enjoy the famous Yorkshire weather, and a large upstairs rooms is available for hire.

Our unique location means you can step out of the door of The Old Sawmill in to the beautiful Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail. The trail is the gateway to the U.K’s most stunning limestone scenery including Ingleborough Cave, Trow Gill gorge, Gaping Gill pothole, limestone pavements, the Norber Erratics and, ultimately, the summit of Ingleborough mountain. Alfred Wainwright, the esteemed guidebook illustrator and author, called this route up Ingleborough “the finest of all, a classic”.

THE OLD SAWMILL'S STORY

Records as far back as the 12th Century indicate the presence of a corn mill and fulling mill (for processing wool) in Clapham. The first verifiable indication of a building or barn on the site of The Old Sawmill is shown on the 1851 Tithe Map for Clapham with Newby and on the first Ordnance Survey map of the same date.

A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME

As The Old Sawmill is a listed building, renovations have been undertaken extremely sensitively, with input from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority throughout the project.

DISCOVER THE BEST OF THE YORKSHIRE DALES

The location, beneath Ingleborough mountain in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is part of what we think makes The Old Sawmill so special.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

What they’re saying.

This is a wonderful cafe with a lovely atmosphere and is ideally located for lunch after a good walk along the nearby nature trail. The sausage rolls, pasties and soup were delicious, as was the coffee. Everything seemed reasonably priced too. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our dogs were welcome too. We will definitely come back when we're next in the area.
Lovely cafe, stunning coffee and cakes! The chips are amazing, and the portions are big - which is a bonus! The staff are friendly and welcoming. Can’t wait for my next visit!
This is a beautiful cafe set in the heart of the Yorkshire dales. The coffee and were delicious and the staff were very accommodating for our needs. As a side note, the music was also excellent, featuring an array of alternative 80s tunes. 5 stars!
